Job Title: Maintenance Specialist (Production Metalworker Z)
Pay Rate: Depends on experience
Location: 628 South Hanford Street, Seattle, WA.
Hours of Work: First Shift is 7:00am to 3:30pm and Second Shift is 3:00pm to 11:30 pm.
Representation: After 30 days, required to become a dues paying
or financial core member of Sheetmetal Workers Local Union No. 66.
Job Summary:
Will perform preventative as well as routine repairs and troubleshoot repairs to all machines and equipment in the shop. The Maintenance Specialist must be able to work independently to complete repairs and communicate with vendors to research part availability and generate purchase requisitions.
- Tools:
Employees will be expected to provide certain tools for their own use.

Required Essential Job Skills/Experience:
- Journey level experience and knowledge in mechanics in an industrial environment.
- Valid Washington State driver's license and good driving record.
- Able to use hand and power tools needed for maintenance and repair.
- Able to operate forklift truck and overhead cranes.
- Must be able to climb access ladders in and around equipment and be able to work in confined spaces.
- Able to read, write, understand and communicate in English.
- Able to lift and position parts weighing up to 100 pounds frequently.
- Legible hand writing.
Required
Essential Job Functions/Duties:
- Able to perform all preventative maintenance independently.
- Troubleshoot and repair all machines and equipment in the shop including press brakes, presses, shears, cranes, positioners and gearboxes. Exercise independent judgment on course of action to be taken in repair of mechanical and hydraulic components and systems.
- Document all work performed.
- Communicate with vendors for parts availability and generate purchase requisitions.
Desirable Job Skills/Experience:
- Completion of a formal apprenticeship program or equivalent job experience.

Demands:
This work is defined in the heavy strength factor of physical demands. It requires the ability to push/pull large, heavy items and to exert considerable force on wrenches and levers.
Lifting and carrying is usually involved with tools and repair parts. Depending upon the work flow, this may encumber handling items up to 100 times per day.
Standing and walking occur continuously throughout the course of a work day. Some intermittent sitting may occur when operating the forklift, completing paperwork, or at lunch break.
